North Lanarkshire Carers Together continues to lead carer assistance initiatives with news on the North Lanarkshire Carer Breather Programme
NLCT has proudly served as the Carer Support Network Lead since 2014, consistently placing carers’ needs and voices at the forefront of service development. For nearly three years, they have also supported the Carer Breather programme, offering thousands of carers the opportunity to take a well-deserved break from their routine through services delivered by one of 11 local community organisations.
This June, the organisation successfully pitched for and secured continued and enhanced investment from University Health & Social Care for the Carer Breather programme. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to supporting carers in North Lanarkshire, ensuring they have access to crucial short break opportunities as part of a broader strategy for prevention and early intervention.
In preparation for the upcoming third phase of the Carer Breather programme, NLCT conducted a comprehensive consultation between July 16th and August 29th. They engaged 307 carers, 11 Carer Breather projects, and additional stakeholders to evaluate the current services and identify any evolving needs or barriers to accessing breaks. The insights gathered have been invaluable, and NLCT’s team are excited to share our findings with the carers and other stakeholders.
Alongside the release of our Carer Breather report, NLCT are thrilled to announce the availability of Episode 7 of their Carer Podcast. In this episode, they feature Playpeace, one of the current Carer Breather organisations, and hear directly from two carers benefiting from their services.
