Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire (VANL) is delighted to announce that Phase Six of this fund will be open for applications from the 3rd August and will be the first year VANL trials interview appliacation in response to feedback from the sector. VANL has received £955K of funding from the Scottish Government to support community and voluntary sector groups to contribute to the fund’s purpose of:
- improving mental health and wellbeing
- reducing mental health inequalities
- reducing mental health inequalities caused by the cost-of-living crisis
- reducing the stigma around mental health and illness
by supporting “at risk” groups in North Lanarkshire through community-based support.
£569,000 has already been allocated to two-year projects meaning the remaining £379,000 is available for one year projects to apply for.
Please note organisations holding 2-year funding awards from Phase 5 of the fund cannot apply for funding in this phase due to the limitations of this fund. New organisations to the fund, previously unsuccessful and those currently holding 1-year awards from phase 5 are welcome to apply.

Fund Purpose
The Community Mental Health and Wellbeing (CMHWB) Fund is a national fund established by the Scottish government in late 2021 to help local CVS groups provide increased mental health and wellbeing support. The Scottish Government asked the 32 Third Sector Interfaces (TSIs) in Scotland – of which VANL is the interface for North Lanarkshire – to manage the funding on their behalf.

Award Process
- Funding Schedule produced by Head of Community Solutions (HCS) and shared with CEO for approval
- Award letters to funded project prepared by Team Support (TS) including invoice amounts and unique purchase order numbers for each invoice. Head of Community Solutions checks and signs award letter and they are then issued.
- Funded project returns signed acceptance section and first quarter invoice, quoting the unique purchase number order, to TS. All paperwork is saved in a Spoint folder and a link sent to Finance. Subsequent invoices for remaining quarters submitted by host organisations in line with schedule in award letter.
- Once satisfied all paperwork is present and correct, Finance staff will process each invoice in Xero and HCS approves it on system, Funds are then released to project in next payment run.

- VANL produces a fund-specific annual Impact and Learning report for the CMHWB.
